February 2006 Pics

Where did I leave those skis? (573K)20 February 2006
Take good note where you leave them! Actually, despite what you'd think the place wasn't that crowded even though this was (we later discovered) always the busiest week of the season.
Maple Flags (421K)20 February 2006
Nice blue skies and crisp snow on the ground. Don't think we'll be needed the Ski-doo to get down either ;)
Whiskey Jack (500K)24 February 2006
This little fella (the bird, silly) is called a Whiskey Jack. They hung out at the rather nice mountain hut, 'Chic Pea' which happens to be located by a run called, 'Whiskey Jack'... funny that.
Harmony Panorama (660K)
24 February 2006
Some nice bowls down there - the view from Harmony Ridge, Whistler.
Whistler Entertainment (554K)24 February 2006
Some sort of free concert? Well, why not? Simple Plan appear to be a Canadian group - didn't know that before.
337-3721_img.jpg (381K)26 February 2006
Nice new snow on Blackcomb mountain. So you can't see too far, who cares! ;)
Of Piste R&P (534K)26 February 2006
Rob & Pratiwi 'off piste' (ahem) at Blackcomb mountain. Yeah - lots of nice, fresh deep snow about :)
To Harmony (360K)28 February 2006
Heading on over to Harmony to play in the fresh stuff.
Out of Bounds (511K)28 February 2006
Plenty of fresh stuff down here if you can avoid the trees!
Another Hill (403K)28 February 2006
Saying goodbye to Whistler as the late afternoon sun hits a hill across the valley from the main ski fields.
Gastown by Night (446K)28 February 2006
Gastown seems a rather trendy area of Vancouver. Akin to Newtown in Sydney? Clerkenwell in London? Anyhow, the street lighting was rather nice as you can see.

March 2006 Pics

Chinatown Ute (460K)1 March 2006

Dr. San Yat-Sen Park (589K)1 March 2006
Nice little Chinese garden.
Chinese Wares (591K)1 March 2006
Colourful wares outside a Chinatown store.
Lizard on a Stick? (478K)1 March 2006
Not sure these look particularly tasty.
Snail Fishing (469K)1 March 2006
Are they large snails this woman is fishing for? All sorts of seafood available in Chinatown, that's for sure.
Amsterdam Cafe (517K)1 March 2006
It would appear that smoking marijuana isn't illegal in Vancouver, here (kindof between Gastown & Chinatown) there's a few cafes reminiscent of... well, Amsterdam cunningly.
Capilano River (555K)2 March 2006
From the rather unstable Capilano Suspension Bridge.
Capilano Suspension Bridge (464K)2 March 2006
The sign reads, 'Vancouver's oldest visitor attraction sways 450 feet across and 230 above Capilano River and leads to the towering evergreens, mountain fed ponds and meandering trails of a West Coast rain forest. The current bridge is the 4th built at this location, the original constructed in 1889 of hemp rope and cedar planks'
Treetop R&P (560K)2 March 2006
Rob & Pratiwi on the treetop walk, Capilano, Vancouver.
Arty Stump (476K)2 March 2006
Arty, farty shot of some tree stump.

Downtown Vancouver (446K)2 March 2006
Say no more... nice touch they use trolly buses still.
Branch Reflections (519K)3 March 2006
Arty farty shot of buildings and a tree.
Mountain Harbour (492K)3 March 2006
It is rather nice that there's water and mountains and snow here. Shame then, that makes the water really rather cold.
Mountain Harbour (400K)3 March 2006

Gastown Clock (532K)3 March 2006
There's a steam powered clock here, down in Gastown. Why isn't it called 'Steamtown' then? Who knows, but rather unusual all the same.
