Anti-Spam

Spam (unsolicited bulk mail) is the scourge of the internet. Perhaps you've had a mail bounce from rainton.com, perhaps you're just curious. Here's what we do here to minimise the affect of Spam on our users:

Blacklists

The following blacklists are used here:

We submit open relays which Spam is recieved through to ORDB via their test page.

If your mail to a rainton.com user has been rejected with a message like:

550 Rejected <YOUR IP> listed at <SOME BLACKLIST>
PLEASE DO NOT BLAME US! You have somehow found your way onto that blacklist and should contact them to be removed.

SpamAssassin

In addition to the blacklists above, we also employ the excellent freeware, SpamAssassin.

Milter-Sender

Finally, we have Milter-Sender from Snert running. This detects mail from bogus addresses and rejects accordingly.

Read more about it here.
