Meat & cheese fest (OK - with a few cursory greens & veggies) at our very generous neighbour's. Nom, nom, nom!
Dinner @ the Gouaillardeu again. Pratiwi ordered Couilles de Mouton. Erm... OK, but think I'll stick to steak! Yum
Today's ride: Cols Ichere & Lie. No big climbs as taking it easy. Not that several km of almost 10% is *that* easy
Drinks & dinner in the Gouaillardeu, Arette. Nom, nom, nom! This is Part 1, can you tell what's coming next?
Today's ride: Short but sweet. Overlooking the Baretous valley & later getting stuck in animal traffic. Baaaaaa!
Taking short break just a couple of valleys over involves driving up & over cols. Always great views from the road
Lunch @ Lac de Payolle. Beautiful day, beautiful setting, wonderful food/drink. Entertaining company. Good times!
Today's ride: rolling along a supply branch of the Canal du Midi. And up to a random castle... because... why not?
Apperos in Revel's main square. Impressive here but sadly no market during our visit. Doh! Lucky there's beer!
Today's ride: Lac de Saint Ferreol. Beautiful area I think is bit like a mini Black Forest - sadly minus beer/cake
Quick look around a very quiet Saint-Felix-Lauragais. Nice view from chateau but wow - this landscape looks very dry!
Well that's an... erm... 'interesting' finish to lunch! Bit warm for summer, but who am I to argue with locals?
You're supposed to put geotextile under gravel to stop weeds... which seem able to root through solid wood! So, um...
Post yard-work refreshment. One of the best beers in the world? Gotta say the tripel is growing on me Cheers!
Good & sunny today so how did my legs get covered in mud working outside? Sweat + dust = mud? Hmmmmmmmm... nice!
Look who finally joined me up the Aspin, yay! Crazy weather for end of August but only slightly damp so no probs
New boot day! Exciting! Stayed looking new for literally 5 minutes. Oh well, they are for... erm... 'working'
Another rock/gravel delivery. 'Only' 13t but few big ones in there so workout time! Beer bottle for scale, honest!
Today's ride: Erm... where's the mountains & what's this blue stuff? Cruising between beaches on the Medoc coast.
When friends let you on their boat. Thx! Also loving my new combover! Oh wait - that's a shadow isn't it? Doh!
Earlier effort with tape not holding up but sorted now. Loose laptop screen connector fixed with blob of hot glue
End of another hard day. No really. There's a big of dirt in the shadows I moved 'earlier'. Honest! Cheers!
Hike up to Refuge de Larribet. Lots of beautiful crystal clear water. Survived herds of wild animals intact! Phew!
Today's ride: what's wrong with this picture? Answer: not much! Beautiful spin even if a little 'lost' at times
Jolly to Saint Mont for a little degustation du vin today. Lovely area. Thanks to the chauffeur team for driving
Seem to have fixed dodgy screen in my 10yo laptop with electrical tape! To another 10 years? Touch wood & such!
At the dinner table tonight... are we in France or Belgium? Or does it even matter? Cheers!
On today's ride: little bridge crossing the River Ousse. Still so many little gems like this to discover near home
Stumbled across Indonesian restaurant in Cahors. Someone's very happy! & yes, 2 peeps/3 dishes (+dessert) does go!
Today's ride: Back on cliffs above Saint-Cirq-Lapopie because... why not? Few drops of rain a welcome refreshment!
Look for 'fancy' restaurant in Cahors but v. busy Saturday, so end up in a backstreet bar. Prolly more fun anyhow!
Chemin de Halage: aka. a towpath cut into cliffs along the river Lot. Good idea as it makes for a nice shady walk.
Above the River Lot: a veritable motorway compared to some cliff-edge roads we travelled in Norway so no worries!
Lunch in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. Beautiful place & v.toasty today so we chose a super shady spot... & the large beer!
Saint-Cirq-Lapopie perched above river Lot. Very impressed by this beautifully preserved (& clean!) medieval village.
Oh look... a beach... and we're nowhere near the coast! Lovely spot by river Lot, Causses du Quercy National Park.
Climb on foot up to Cordes-sur-Ciel was worth it even in today's scorching heat! Beautiful medieval village in Tarn.
You've seen sheep, cattle, etc. in a field squash into the shade of a single tree/hedge, yes? Snails are the same
Second ride of the day: short cool down with Pratiwi, who also tried #HaySurfing for the first time Not bad!
Beautiful sunrise ride to avoid forecast heat. Rolling hills & shady forests actually made for perfect conditions
1st meal out since you-know-what (over 3 months!). Love random roadside stops... esp when they turn out great!
